Katy Perry - E.T. (Tiësto Remix Radio Edit)

My favourite remix of the year so far.

Spyke

Here comes the fourth single off Katy Perry's sophomore album 'Teenage Dream' and with it this amazing remix. Whereas the original version doesn't quite have the edge to compete with the first three singles from the album, this Tiësto remix works a treat. It completely surpasses the Tinie Tempah remix I had been listening to, which, like JLS' Eyes Wide Shut, features Tinie just giving a one verse rap in the latter part of the single.

The increased production and synths in this remix build up the momentum and makes the track sound much more futuristic and trance like, which seems more fitting with the content and lyrics of the song. I can't distinguish why but the production sounds like a high budget Calvin Harris track; but maybe that's related to the fact I was listening to him a lot last night.

Anyway the chart geek in me would love for this track to chart at #4 in the UK, just to see her consecutive singles chart in descending positions:

#1 California Gurls
#2 Teenage Dream
#3 Firework
#? E.T. (Futuristic Lover)

However I can't see that happening with the original mix, even with some heavy promotion - though the Brits may be a good option for the track...
